热点爆料入口鈥檚 Theatre program, in collaboration with the , will host its upcoming production of Urinetown from Thursday, April 13, through Saturday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
The production takes place at the Main Stage Theatre, in the Jackson Arts Center (H building), on the Bristol Fall River Campus, 777 Elsbree Street. Synopsis: Winner of multiple awards, including three Tony Awards, Urinetown is set 20 years into a devastating drought. With a government ban on private toilets, people must now pay to use public amenities, while the corporation UGC has taken full advantage of the crisis. In this hilarious musical satire on corporate greed, environmental disaster and our legal system, 鈥淯rinetown鈥 asks the question, Is it a right or a privilege to pee?
The production is directed by Elizabeth Bettencourt, Ed.D., Director of Education and the Associate Artistic Director for and features music and lyrics from Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis.
Urinetown鈥檚 cast consists of Bristol students, including both theatre majors and non-theatre majors, as well as community members. Local audiences will recognize actors Jay and Robbie Burke, playing Caldwell B. Cladwell and Josephine Strong, who have been cast as mentor performers, able to lend knowledge from their own professional theatre experiences to younger cast members.
Bristol鈥檚 Theatre program is an Associate of Arts, in liberal arts & sciences, that provides hands-on training and experience, allowing students to learn and refine their craft as they perform. Students can smoothly transfer to a four-year institution or seek work in the performing arts. In addition to teaching history, literature and art, studying theatre also provides interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
